The work
This wasn’t a simple map adjustment.
We developed a custom ECU patch for our client that adds dedicated overrun sound control while retaining the stock strategy outside the defined operating conditions.
The system allows the calibration to control when sound tuning is enabled, which gears can use it, oil-temperature and pre/post-cat EGT limits, throttle and overrun conditions, downshift behaviour, catalyst-heating behaviour, drive-mode-specific calibrations, and separate fuel-cut delay and ignition strategies.
The patch contains 4 sound-duration variants and 4 ignition variants, all exposed for calibration.
The entire implementation is handled through our automated binary patching workflow, making complex ECU feature development repeatable, configurable and scalable. Files are patched and prepared for delivery within seconds, with each file VIN-locked to its intended vehicle.
