Custom 3-Mode No-Lift Shift
BMW MSV80 · three selectable strategies
The work
Himalayan Performance Labs has developed a custom No-Lift Shift (NLS) solution for the BMW MSV80 ECU, featuring three selectable strategies for managing engine output during gear changes.
Designed for supported manual-transmission applications, the system expands the available shift-control options beyond a single fixed strategy.
The three-mode implementation gives tuners flexibility to select a shift strategy suited to the vehicle setup and intended application.
Developed in-house by Himalayan Performance Labs, this project showcases our work in custom ECU software development and advanced engine-control functionality.
Three Shift-Control Modes
Mode 1 — Fuel Cut
A fuel-cut-based strategy for managing engine output during no-lift upshifts.
Mode 2 — Ignition Cut & Retard
An ignition-based strategy combining ignition cut and retard to deliver a different approach to shift control.
Mode 3 — Torque Management
An OEM torque-management-based strategy designed to manage engine output during the shift event.
